Bicycle Network is urging bike riders from across New South Wales to unite and rally against the state government’s plan to introduce mandatory ID and dramatically increase fines for bike riders.

The public rally against the NSW government’s new and prohibitive cycling laws is set to be held in Martin Place between 7:30am – 8:30am, on Thursday 18 February – the first week of parliament for the new year.

See the bicycle network site for more information.

Our regular membership meeting is scheduled for next Tuesday, 10 November, 7 PM at South Newcastle Rugby League Club, Llewellyn Street, Merewether.

The guest speaker has been confirmed as Mr Glen Spicer, Director of EJE Architecture in Newcastle. Glen and his team have done a considerable amount of research and analysis of the various options around the CBD revitalisation project on behalf of The Property Council, and have come up with intriguing alternative scenarios to the four “talking points” put forward by Urban Growth in their community consultation to date. I’m sure the discussion will be of interest to many of our members, as these scenarios have great relevance to cycling to and within the CBD.
